Mitchell Mag Premier 4000 FD Reel
To help maximise performance and remain
competitive, the construction of this series of reels
utilises three different typles of material. The rotor is
made from magnesium to help reduce weight, the
stem is made from aluminum to help improve
ridgidity and strength, whilst the body is made from
reinforced graphite to help reduce weight and cost.

This is the newbie in Mitchell’s Mag-Pro reel range,
and it’s also the most affordable. It’s a front-drag
model that comes with a spare spool, both spools
having a capacity of 200 metres of 0.25mm diameter
line. The nine ball bearings give it a smooth action,
and the chunky bail arm has a crisp action.

Large ReelPhilippe Blime took over Mitchell in 1982 with plans to revitalize the business. He strived
to turn the company around using the Mitchell brand''s prestige and tradition of quality. His
restructuring strategy was to rejuvenate the product line, reduce costs, increase distribution, and
innovate throughout, while at the same time respecting the tradition. In 1983-1984 stiff international
competition forced Mitchell to subcontract the manufacture of its products to the Pacific Rim.
Although Mitchell reels were no longer produced in France, French engineers still maintained control
of the products'' concept and design
